Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance coverage, applicable charges, and your responsibilities for the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Alloa Car Hire, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may differ depending on the vehicle type, with extra charges applicable for those under 25. A valid, full driving licence for the appropriate vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of current address. Valid payment information and a security deposit are also necessary, as well as any additional criteria outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be completed via our website, by telephone, or at our Alloa office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment and security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT as applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment systems.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to inspect the vehicle thoroughly and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and must be signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as when it was collected, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged accordingly. Please ensure that the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as at the start of the rental. Refueling charges will apply for vehicles returned with less fuel. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us as soon as possible, as late returns may incur additional fees. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage specifics and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be offered to lower your financial liability. It is beneficial to review these options closely. You remain accountable for any damage or loss up to the insurance excess, unless further insurance is purchased. Damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of existing insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or failure to show may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited vehicle uses:
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or any other dangerous driving practices. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. The vehicle should not be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle must be used for its intended purpose only, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving outside of the designated geographical area requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
8. Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire in Alloa will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the amount you paid for the rental in the previous 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraudulent actions.
Governing Law in Alloa
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.
10. Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately once posted on our website. Your ongoing use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
